Briefly explain your goals and career objectives:

As a nursing major, I will be starting my fourth semester of college at Henderson State University beginning January 9, 2024. I cannot believe how quickly my time at college is going, but I am beyond excited to start nursing school in the fall! I had my most challenging semester this fall, but was able to finish out strong with a 4.0 GPA, and a 3.88 cumulative GPA. A goal of mine is to continue keeping my GPA up. In 2018 and 2019, I went through one of the most challenging times of my life. Test after test after test, my family and I finally heard the word epilepsy. Getting this diagnosis has not been easy, and is still something that I struggle with today. That being said, my medical team's impact on me will forever hold a spot in my heart. Because of Arkansas Children’s Hospital and this diagnosis, I want to help others just like I have been helped. Once graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, my goal is to become a Neonatal Nurse. Receiving a scholarship from the NGAA Foundation would be extremely beneficial to me. I appreciate your consideration.

Additional information or comments as desired:

A story of mine I would love to add is the amazing opportunity I was given over the summer. I had a community member reach out asking if I would be interested in becoming a caregiver for his wife, who is bedridden with ALS. Of course, I said yes and I was over the next day to meet him. His wife, Christy, is a retired Kindergarten teacher at the elementary school I went to. She pulled out two of my baby teeth such a long time ago - it was so neat that I was getting to help Christy after she had done so much for our community and school district. This experience was amazing, and Christy and I share a bond like no other. She will always hold such a special place in my heart, and for that, I am thankful. I still go over to visit with them as often as possible. This experience was so much more than just a “job” to me, it truly made me realize I was right where I belonged and I cannot wait to help so many other families in the future.
