Briefly explain your goals and career objectives:

In my family, education is considered the family business.  My mother is a retired primary principal, my grandfather is a former school district superintendent, and my great uncle taught at ‘Henderson State Teachers College.’  I always knew that I had a strong passion for education.   When I graduated with my Bachelors from Henderson State in 2009, I began working full time in college recruitment, admissions, and enrollment services.  For the past fifteen years I have excelled by working in the fast-paced and professional atmosphere of college student services.  After several years out of school, I’ve decided to go back to college as a student to pursue an EdD in Education Leadership.  I chose the EdD (instead of a PhD) route because I intend to apply my knowledge to practice.  Working at a community college has helped me to observe the importance of the life changing benefits of the student experience and I would love the opportunity to use my passion for education to help students find their aptitude for future success through education leadership and management. I've seen firsthand the impact that educational credentials and/or technical training can make for a student's future.  “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” —Nelson Mandela

Additional information or comments as desired:

For over a decade, I’ve proudly watched my husband, Bryant (or as the military knows him - Captain Cunningham) fearlessly pursue his career within the Arkansas Guard.  It is with his encouragement that I’ve decided to seek a terminal degree in education.  His willful demeanor and success have inspired me to move forward toward doctoral candidacy.  I appreciate your consideration for this scholarship.  “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”  -Benjamin Franklin
